As a depression, anxiety and fear specialist, he enjoys helping people and uses his knowledge and experience to do this.

Piers is a well qualified hypnotherapist with clinics both in London and in Suffolk.

Why choose Hypnotherapy?

"I had my problems when I was younger, and I grew up and I just had to muddle my way through life like most people, I ended up with a bit of anxiety and a bit of ‘I’m not good enough, I’m not loveable,’ and they came from events from my past. And I saw various people to try and help me past all this, and it wasn’t until the early nineties that I realised actually, if I want to make a change, I have to go to the unconscious mind. Talk therapy is very good, and it works for some people, unfortunately like most things in life there’s no one size fits all. So, for me, I got really good results with hypnosis and hypnotherapy, and that’s what got me into this way of living. I used to be in property for 25 years, and then came into hypnosis and hypnotherapy because it gave me freedom from things that I had been dragging from my past. It helped me become the man I am today.

Your unconscious mind is so powerful that if we can tap into it, and delve deeply into your unconscious we can create amazing changes very quickly. Talk therapies, counselling and other such therapies, they take longer, and to me I don’t like wasting time; to me I like delving into the unconscious mind and getting to the real crux of the problem, getting rid of the problem, putting in some new programming to help the person be confident, be courageous, have high self-esteem, feel loveable, and they go and have amazing lives and if I can do that in four, five or six sessions, rather than fifteen or twenty sessions, to me that’s the way forward, so that is why for me hypnotherapy always wins."

What Our Clients Say

I came to see you last autumn for help with my fear of heights, primarily to enable me to join in with the rest of my family skiing. I am so happy to be able to tell you that our one session has proved revelation and I can now use the chair lift and go up to the top of the ski slope here in Dubai! [...] So, thank you very much. I am very impressed.

Client with a fear of heights

I just wanted to tell you thank you so much for all of your help. It has definitely helped. I was honest with [redacted] and explained to her what was going on. She was very understanding, and in the end, it was a success. I’m a very lucky man now. So thank you once again, you have definitely helped me to change my life for the best.

Client with relationship issues

I couldn’t put it on my Facebook post as it would be bragging but thought you would like to know he got a First!

Amazing… so proud of him. He is walking on cloud 9! Thank you for giving him the confidence in his exams.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between hypnotherapy and counselling?

From my point of view, as a professional hypnotherapist with over twenty-two/twenty-three years of experience, I looked at counselling and did some training in it, both in pure counselling and in hypno-counselling. And some of the ways of helping people are brilliant, and others not as effective as hypnotherapy is. So, what I do is I use hypnosis and counselling, to get you where you want to be. Now, hypnotherapy deals with the unconscious mind, or that part within you that you don’t have access to, to find out what the root cause is, or reprogramme parts of your mind, or parts within you, to help you be the person you want to be.

Talk therapy, or counselling, often takes so much longer, but it can do really really good work, and it teaches you how to resolve some of the psychological issues that have been going on in your life. What I do is take both: a little bit of hypnosis, a little bit of hypnotherapy and a little bit of counselling and I put them all together to get you where you want to be really quickly, to make sure that your suffering is as short as possible. Often when I work with people, I sort them out whether it’s depression, anxiety, changing habits, suicidal thoughts, or anything like that, I change the way that they look at the world and their relationship with themselves and the world within four to six weeks. Counselling often takes longer and longer and longer.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

I have been hypnotizing and helping people for over twenty years, and in that time, I’m yet to have anybody who has come out worse than when they came in. In fact, thousands and thousands of people have used hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and Piers Day style of therapy to actually get better, to remove the things that have gone on in their lives that plague them, and are stopping them from being the people they want to be.

So, when you are driving a car, and you drive from A to B, often, you don’t really think about the roundabouts you go round, or the traffic lights you pass, or making sure that you go from first, second, third, fourth, fifth gear, etc… You don’t really think about the safety, because your mind is singing along to whatever you’re singing along to on the radio, you’re talking to friends, you’re listening to podcasts, or whatever it is.

Yet when the car in front slows down, you automatically slow down. When the traffic light turns red, you automatically stop, and when it turns green, you then carry on driving. Often, you’ll get somewhere, and you’ll think, ‘How did I get here? I don’t remember the journey.’ You were safe, but you were driving with your unconscious mind; you were allowing the hypnotic state of driving to get you from A to B and you were perfectly safe.

But hypnosis or hypnotherapy is not necessarily the state of whether your eyes are open or closed, because we can go through so many different things with our eyes open and be in some form of trance. When you’re watching television, you’re sitting there watching the TV and you’re eating, or you’re drinking, whatever you’re doing and you’re just staring at the television. You’re safe, but you are in some trance. And if you’re watching something really gripping on the television, you will actually re-live or live that moment the actor or actress is going through.

So, when you’re in your hypnosis, and you close your eyes and you just let your mind relax and you start doing visualisations, we’re taking it from the film screen or from the television and we’re making it on the inside. And often, I have people when they open their eyes when they’ve finished working with me, they say, ‘Piers, that was amazing.’ That place you took me to, that beach, that garden, wherever it was. And when I give them suggestions that sink into their unconscious mind, they really change enormously. And that’s what makes this way of working with people so magical. So, hypnosis is safe? You bet it is. It’s really fast, it’s really good, and every single person pretty well over the last twenty-two years of me working has absolutely loved it and got so much benefit from it.

How can hypnotherapy help me?

Hypnotherapy and hypnosis are really good at getting into the unconscious mind, and then negotiating or changing the conscious mind as well. Your conscious mind is everything that you think, and is about 3-5% of your mind, and 95-97% of your mind is your unconscious mind, that’s everything that you learn. So, when you learn something, once you’ve learned it you don’t have to think about it, it automatically happens. Now, the mind doesn’t have programmes, there’s no actual conscious or unconscious, you can’t go in the brain ‘oh there’s the conscious and there’s the unconscious’ – but this is the model that we use.

The unconscious mind is everything that you’ve learnt, so if you learnt how to drive, you can drive without thinking about it. You can walk because you’ve learnt how to walk without thinking about it. You can do so many different things without thinking about it, because they’re automatically happening, the unconscious mind just keeps doing things. When you think about things you want to change, it’s very difficult to change something that you’ve learned, but using hypnosis and hypnotherapy you can. If you’ve learnt over your life that ‘I’m not good enough,’ ‘I’m not loveable,’ ‘I can’t cope,’ ‘I’m not confident,’ we can actually use hypnosis to actually change that to make sure that you can; ‘I am loveable,’ ‘I am confident,’ ‘I do feel good about myself,’ ‘I am going to have fun,’ that sort of stuff – we can change the way that you operate, by looking in your unconscious mind and changing what happens there. We change the way you think, the way you feel, the way you behave.
